Who We Are

Friedens is a small congregation that is family-oriented with a profound love of Christ. Within the spirit of the community of faith, you will be greeted with a warmth and energy that is expectantly looking and planning for the future.
Within the physical walls of the church, you will be introduced to displays and artifacts that date back to our beginning in 1834.

What we believe

We believe all are welcome and united by God’s love. We believe that each person is unique and valuable.  It is the will of God that every person belongs to a family of faith where they have a strong sense of being valued and loved. We believe in the triune God: creator, resurrected Christ, the sole head of the church, and the Holy Spirit, who guides and brings about the creative and redemptive work of God in the world.

The United Church of Christ is an inclusive and diverse community of Christians connected by faith that calls us to build a just world for all.  Our ministries advocate at a national and global level, but our roots are planted firmly in our local churches. The mission statement is: We welcome all, love all, and seek justice for all.

Dear Friedens,                                                                                                                          I am so excited to soon be among you as we form a new relationship as Pastor and Congregation. I want to tell you a little about myself so you can be ready to come to church on September 22 to meet me. I am ready to begin meeting you and learning new names!
I am married to Jim Harris, who loves model trains, but you won’t see him often as he has Parkinson’s. We used to do lots of Civil War reenactments.
I have two adult children, who are married to wonderful women and both children are Pastors. Three fun and busy grandchildren who live in Washington, MO.  Three adult stepchildren with two terrific granddaughters, who live in Belleville Il! So a total of five fabulous grandchildren.
I have worked in ministry much of my life both in volunteer positions and later in paid professional positions. I grew up in UCC in the Illinois South Conference. Be sure to ask any questions you may have.
I believe in community as a function of the church so let us build the community that is Friedens as we learn about each other and God. I pray for God to guide us and bless our coming ministry together.                                       Blessings,

Pastor Tracey

Sharon and her husband Galen are residents of St. Charles along with their son Dylan. She enjoys spending time with her sons and daughter-in-laws and her grandchildren. They also enjoy going on family vacations with their children.
